about the blog

i first started this website back in march of 2002. a lot’s changed since then. if you’d told me back in the beginning that i’d soon be married to a hot kickass drummer and give birth to an adorably rambunctious little girl, i’d have laughed in your face. but here i am—wife, mom, condo owner. who would’ve thunk it?

my name is sarah, and this is my corner of cyberspace. in the beginning, this blog was about my musical obsessions, photos, and coming to terms with major life changes, which included in the span of a few months: getting divorced, misplacing my faith (e.g. leaving my mainstream evangelical church subculture), and losing my beloved dad to pancreatic cancer. ah, those were the days…now, i’m just a family gal, and my little bundle of cadence joy has pretty much taken over this blog and my camera. and that's just fine by me.

about the family

i was lucky enough to lay eyes on the man who would be the father of my child at a show at the empty bottle back in august of 2002. man, was he hot! i ogled as he set up his drumkit for the show he was about to play with the band, and i wondered how in the world was i ever going to get up the nerve to talk to him. luckily, the frontman of his band approached me after the show because he saw me taking photos, and he introduced me to that Hot Drummer a week later. ted (that turned out to be the Hot Drummer’s name) and i became friends, and then we became more than friends, and then SURPRISE! we got pregnant in january 2004. we got married that april, and cadence came along on september 24, 2004. we moved into our condo in december 2005 and have been busy setting up home ever since.

i work full-time at a corporate job in lake forest, IL, a far north suburb of chicago. i take the metra (train) and a shuttle bus, so i have almost a 3 hour commute everyday. everyday except wednesdays, that is, when i work from home (my boss ROCKS!). ted is a stay-at-home dad and is very good at it. he does all the cooking and most of the cleaning. he changed all the diapers the first few weeks of cadence's life, and to this day, he's better at it than i am. ted works at trader joe's on wednesdays and saturdays, and he's an avid homebrewer.

cadence will be turning two on sept. 24, 2006. it's hard to believe she's almost a preschooler! turned 3 in sept. 2007, and she has been just about the most kickass kid i could've asked for. she has quite the sunny disposition and is extremely ACTIVE. she's what you'd call a spirited child with a persistent personality, and we love her ever so much...
